Well, it’s almost time for this year’s BIG trip with the Yellow Submarine! (really, the SILVER submarine! Haha) …We will be headed up through New England and then into Canada, exploring Nova Scotia!
In order to begin that trip, we needed to get the Airstream back to Pittsburgh which will be our starting point! We decided to take a detour on the way home and go to Virginia Beach – to one of our favorite campgrounds, to see some of our favorite people!
. ALL READY TO PULL OUT!
One of our favorite campgrounds is the Virginia Beach KOA – SO MUCH GOING ON THERE ALL THE TIME! It’s one of the best campgrounds we have been to, especially for families and kids (and even old people like us!). On the weekends they have live music, food trucks, endless games to play, and they have a GREAT swimming pool with a lazy river!
It was a great little detour and we spent a lot of time with Leigh and the boys while Andrew was working! The boys LOVE the trailer and spent most of two days with us – Leigh and her friend went to a baby shower the first day, so we had Nolan and Miles with us – what a blast we had! Every time we are with them, we realize at the end of the day that we are OLD! Haha – and we KNOW that babies are for YOUNG people! But oh how fun it is and we hang in there with the best of them!
Nolan and Miles did a puzzle on the floor in the bedroom of the trailer, and after swimming the boys got ice cream! Just a great summer day being a kid!
Nolan tells me all the time how much he loves the trailer and could just stay in it all day long! And now Miles (2) is learning about the trailer too and loves it just as much! It was such a great visit for a few days, and as always, so hard to leave!
One of the highlights of staying at the KOA is that it’s less than 1 mile from the Naval Base at Oceana, so there is almost always training going on for the pilots – and the campground is part of the flight path, so it provides such AWESOME entertainment for us! One day we had lunch outside and this is some of what we saw…(AND HEARD!)
One last stop on the way back to Pittsburgh and then we will be back home – “there’s no place like home” and we do love it there most of all! Here was the view as we drove away from Virginia Beach -right before we went through the tunnel under the water! Crazy!
The week will be spent getting ready for the BIG TRIP – we are so excited and have dear friends joining us to Canada – they also have an Airstream and went with us last year on our big trip out west – it’s more fun to explore with other people, so we are thankful they are willing to hang out with us for almost 6 weeks!
