Hi again! The next part of our trip included two really fun things! First, four days at the KOA campground in Virginia Beach…with…LEIGH AND THE BOYS!

We love this Virginia Beach KOA – and I have shared it on my blog before – for so many reasons!
*It’s FUN!
*It’s across from the base where Andrew is stationed
*We get to see jets fly over us all the time!
*There is SO much to do at this campground!
*It’s near Andrew and Leigh’s house!
*and most of all, it’s great entertainment for Nolan and Miles! THEY LOVE IT!
Since it was Easter weekend, the campground had lots of activities! Food trucks, a petting zoo, a duck derby race in the lazy river, a MASSIVE Easter egg hunt, games, and just lots of outdoor games – oh, and kids everywhere!

The best part of this weekend was that we rented a cabin for Leigh and the boys to stay in, so they didn’t have to go home!! We were all there together! The boys had bunk beds to stay in – of course, Nolan as the 6 year old got to be on the top!!!!

We had a great time and the weather was perfect! And Easter Sunday was a blessing to be with them – we checked them out of the cabin and went back to their house for the day – another Easter egg hunt happened also!

HERE IS MILES’ EASTER JOKE!
When we said goodbye and headed back to the campground before leaving in the morning, the rain started – and DID it start!!!!! It poured the entire night – we were watching TV in the trailer that night and had to turn the volume up to the maximum because of the sound of the rain on our aluminum trailer! It’s a great sound but wow is it loud!!!!!!!!!!
The next day we packed up and headed back out – we have become experts at closing up the trailer on the inside and outside! This is definitely a team activity! I take care of the inside and Leonard takes care of all the outside jobs – he has the harder part for sure!
The second part of this trip is one of our favorite things in the world – THE MASTERS GOLF TOURNAMENT!!!!!

My parents were ticket holders for over 50 years and it was one of their favorite places to go also! We knew that when they passed away, we would lose the tickets, because they do not let them stay in the family! (and there is actually a job at the Masters where people check ticket holders deaths ) after my dad passed away, my mother still had the tickets and we were able to go with her for the first few years, and then it go too hard for her to go. My brother and I would use the tickets (we have two tickets for all four days). I like to go Thursday and Friday, and he likes to go Saturday and Sunday, so it works perfectly!
My mom passed away during COVID in 2020, and we wondered if we would get to have the tickets that following April for the tournament.
What happened next was amazing – such a GOD thing!
My brother received a letter from August National, informing him that they had decided to reinstate the LEGACY POLICY – I think it had not been in effect since 1975 or so…what that means is this. One legal child of a patron (ticket holder) could apply to become a patron after the death of the parents. My brother applied and was awarded the tickets and is now a patron!!!!!!!! So we have the two tickets for the four days every year! (Of course we have to pay for them – haha!)
We were truly so excited and felt so blessed! So we are off to the Masters for another year!
The only bummer about it is that you cannot take any pictures at all! Oh, if I could show some pictures of the course, you would all be amazed! I always tell people it’s like stepping into the Garden of Eden! The beauty is hard to describe!
Since I can’t get a photo, the best I can do is show a photo of our campground (it’s 5 minutes from the course and is reserved for those going to the tournament) and then a phot of us with our badges getting ready to head in!

At the end of Friday, we head out and meet my brother and sister in law at one of favorite places there for dinner – OLD MACDONALD’S CATFISH FARM! I am not a catfish fan, BUT…they have the best grits and hush puppies! And the restaurant is a combination restaurant/farm/petting zoo…peacocks, ducks, goats, etc walking all around the parking lot and the restaurant!
It’s great!

We had a great time once again, and are thankful to be able to do this! It truly is one of a kind experience!
So now we head back to Florida to leave the trailer, and check on Leonard’s dad for a few days. He is sad since his beautiful wife passed away in January, but he is hanging in there and says he is taking it one day at a time and doing the best he can!

THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST!!!!! The coast of Oregon and Washington, North Cascades National Park, Grand Teton National Park, through New Mexico and Texas and Nashville and back !! We are SO excited!
Here’s a hint of what’s to come…

Thank you once again for coming along – I hope you enjoy my ramblings!

Until next time…

Right!? I had never seen one!
Such adventures but I’m guessing spending time with the kids is your favorite thing to do. I’ve been to the Tetons. So gorgeous.
I loved your photos and hearing about Leigh and the boys (they melt my heart!) and going to the Masters – so awesome! Glad Leonard’s dad is hanging in there and taking it a day at a time.
Can’t wait for your trip to the Pacific Northwest!
Thanks Linda!

I sure was waiting to see a picture of “welcome to Minnesota” in the “a hint of what’s coming”….. it is not so out of the way to come through the Midwest on the way to the Northwest ….right??
SO wish you lived closer!
Oh my gosh, what a treat to go on these adventures “with” you! I love all of the pictures, of course, and your descriptions. Caverns are the such fun; you can never do too many, IMO.
The boys are adorable; love, love, love seeing them enjoying you both. 🙂
I can’t wait for your August trip. It’s going to be spectacular!
I just appreciate you taking time to read it!
Your pictures are the best!! Loved the video of Nolan. Can’t wait to see you and hear all about your trip!
