AND WE’RE OFF!!!!
.
. MY TRAVELING SNACK!!!!!
Well, here we are – blessed to be able to go on another “almost” cross-country trip with our Airstream trailer! Two things are different for us this year – we are NOT going all the way to California …and we are NOT going alone!
Andrew and Leigh and the kids are moving back to Virginia Beach in IN ABOUT A MONTH!! We are so excited to have them coming back to the east coast! Now it’s only a 7-hour drive (and if you know us, that’s nothing!). So, we don’t really have a reason to go all the way to California this summer – but we are going ALL THE WAY to Montana and will see some amazing places! (I can’t wait to show you all!)
The other thing is that we have another couple traveling with us! Our friends Bob and Bobbi, who also have an Airstream trailer, are brave enough to go on this adventure with us! We are so excited and have already had such a great time on this first leg of the trip! Here are our two trailers as we begin the trip!
.
We left Florida on Saturday, May 4, and our first stop was Dothan, Alabama! We stayed at the Dothan RV Park, which was really nice! It was just a stopover on the way to our first real destination – NASHVILLE!!!!
.
.
Sunday had us arriving in Nashville, and we stayed at the same park as last year – Elm Hill RV Park – what a beautiful RV park it is, and the views are spectacular!!! This will let you see the views we saw from our trailers!
.
We had plans for Monday morning – to go look around Nashville and to show our friends around, since Leonard went to college there (a few years ago – haha) – it’s funny how we can make our plan, and then suddenly, God has a different one for us! It’s always fun to see what HE will do!
We were sitting outside Sunday evening and noticed that Bob’s Airstream had water running down the outside – coming from what we thought was the air conditioner….Leonard and Bob had some ideas of what it might be, and did a little “tinkering” with it to see if they were right…WELL, after some time, they realized that it probably needed a professional to look at it …fast forward to Monday morning…we are sitting outside and noticed that OUR Airstream also had water running down the outside – ALSO from the air conditioner! (THIS IS WHERE, IF I COULD, I WOULD ENTER THE EMOJI OF THE MIND BEING BLOWN!) What are the odds that we would BOTH have the same thing happening at the same time!?!?!
GUESS WHAT? FOUND IT!
We made a phone call to a WONDERFUL service we have that will find technicians in the area to come service the trailer…after just 20 minutes, we got a call back that there was someone in the area who was a master technician for AIRSTREAM AIR CONDITIONERS!!! (Again, mind blown!) – within two hours, he showed up!!! A young man named Spencer and he was SO knowledgeable! Within two hours, he had repaired both trailers – and they both had DIFFERENT reasons for the water dripping! (Mind blown!)
While he was repairing the trailers, Bob’s truck battery died! After a call to AAA, out came the technician within THIRTY MINUTES and got the truck started!
GUESS WHAT I’M GOING TO SAY?…
DEFINITELY not what we had planned for the first half of the day, but WOW, look at the blessings GOD gave us!
*We were safely at our campground before we noticed water dripping…
*We had a service to call to find us a technician…
*We had an AMAZING young man who knew EXACTLY what to do to fix them!
*Not only did Spencer know HOW to fix them, but he had the right parts to fix them!
*He came within two hours and was done within two hours!
*Bob’s battery died AFTER we were safely at our campground – not somewhere along the way!
*AAA came SO quickly!
*BOTH Airstream trailers had something go wrong at the same time, and BOTH were fixed at the same time!
Here are our repair trucks, parked in two EMPTY spaces next to our trailers – another blessing!
.
I am just SO amazed at the Lord and His goodness to us! We have thanked Him so much for His provision!
After all of the repair work, we headed off to downtown, did some touring, saw the Parthenon (not the real one – haha) – ate the most DELICIOUS burger at Joyland Café (Leonard and I had seen it on the Netflix show “Somebody Feed Phil”..a show I HIGHLY recommend!) – had a nice relaxing evening and then went to The Loveless Café the next morning for breakfast, a trip to the Nashville Farmers Market and back to the campground to sit by the lake and have a drink in the evening before turning in for the night (with nice cool air conditioning!)
.
Today we left Nashville, and our next stop is Colorado Springs! On the way we are stopping at Columbia, Missouri and Salina, Kansas…Can’t wait to see each of these places!
. THANKS FOR COMING ALONG THIS YEAR…UNTIL NEXT TIME!
love the new emoji!!!! God is good!
i was so excited to find that emoji!
Love this!!!
God is with you guys!! Amazing !!!
He is so good to us!
Thanks for taking us along on your new adventure. That breakfast looks like something I could eat if I were not very hungry 🤣👍! Looking forward to new posts!!! Thanks for sharing.
Ken, that’s hilarious about the breakfast!!!!!!
Sorry to post again but I just noticed the Yellow Submarine playing cards. Susan your folks would be blessed to know how much you enjoy your Air Stream.
Bobbi got me those – aren’t they awesome!
I can relate to 3 of your planned stops! My niece went to medical school in Dothan! We stopped in Salina once when we took our first road trip to Boulder. And Joe’s niece is in veterinary school at the Univ of Missouri, so we visited her and stayed in Columbia just last month on our way to CO!
Are you going to see the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs? It is beautiful! I highly recommend it.
Safe travels! You were missed at Sharing Day and book club this week.😘
That’s so cool about the three stops and your familiarity with them – small world right?!?! We are going to Garden of the Gods, yes! I can’t wait! I really missed being with you all toO!
Wow, only a few days in and already you have seen such beautiful sights! Even in the things that didn’t go as planned, you saw and pointed out how God was working and providing! I cannot wait to “travel along” and see the many other wonderful sights along the way!!
Thanks, Laura – you would have seen it all the same way! It’s who you are!
God certainly took care of you!! Can’t wait to hear all about your adventures this summer! Love the pictures!
Isn’t God good!
So good to hear from you and it’s wonderful that you have friends going with you! Grateful that God took care of your AC and battery problems so you can enjoy your trip.
I want one of those burgers! I’m thinking Columbia (my aunt and uncle lived there briefly) and Salina will be more flyover towns but know you will find beauty in them.🥰. Looking forward to your adventure and pics of Colorado Springs!
That was the BEST burger i have ever had! seriously!…..
I’m learning so much already from this adventure! Thanks for sharing the highlights and what potentially could be low lights! You sure do have to be patient when traveling with an RV! The pictures are lovely and God provided well for you! If George and I ever get an RV, we’re gonna need the number of your guy who travels to fix it. Lol.
I can’t wait for you and George to get your RV!!!!!
I love reading of your adventures! You guys handle problems beautifully! I’m so excited to see Montana- it’s on my bucket list😍
I will definitely “show” you Montana !!!
Love that you see God’s provision in it all! We’ve enjoyed “Somebody feed Phil” too. As we get into more season’s, I have to say, he’s getting on my nerves! 🤣 Have fun! Enjoy it all! Godspeed.
I am laughing out loud about Phil getting on your nerves!!! hahaha
Love the commentary and photos!! Were those Loveless biscuits? 💛💛💛
Can’t wait for the next installment!!!
Great pics and amazing stories!!! Glad you write this all down! Have fun!
THANKS for reading it since it’s written down! haha
Wow ! God’s provision indeed. I love me some Good and Plenty as well. How nice to have traveling companions, too. Going to see my mom for the weekend. Godspeed and take a picture of the kissing camels for me when you get to Colorado Springs.
dont know about the kissing camels!?!?! You have a great weekend with your mom – and when i get home we will share some GOOD AND PLENTY!
Love your positive attitude and praise for our great God!!! Definitely stop at CBS headquarters when you’re in CO Springs and get a tour. Happy trails xoxoxo
I forgot all about the CBS headquarters!!!
I love your attitude. You could have been really upset by the malfunctioning AC units ruining your plans, but instead you chose to be grateful for how God arranged the repairs. You’re an example for all of us.
Thank you so much!
You guys are “Live Air Streaming Life!!! ” Love your adventures!
I can’t wait for the next post.
It looks like Nashville knows how to feed it’s guests! Yum!

And I get some stone ground grits. lol.
You sure do get the grits! can’t believe i forgot some for ME!
So jealous of your Loveless Cafe biscuits. One of the things we like best about Nashville. Glad you pushed through the AC problems and turned them into a great lesson in seeing God in the little things. . Safe travels and happy trails!
The Loveless biscuits are amazing aren’t they!
Love you adventures! Thanks for posting. And, hmmmm, biscuits… new blog idea, Susan’s Wonderful World of Biscuits! <3
