Well…all good things must come to an end – and that’s where we are! We have been in Florida July and most of August, and are now making our way North again – HOME TO PITTSBURGH! We will have come full circle when we get back, and like the saying from that great movie classic… ‘THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME”
We decided that, on the way home, we would stop and camp a few places on the way, because we needed a break from the extreme heat we had in Florida over the past month!!! We spend a lot of time in Florida in the summertime, but have not experienced heat like that in a while! Even going out in the boat and getting in the water wasn’t refreshing because the water in the Gulf was like bath water!
We had a great time though, and really enjoyed being there – here are some snapshots from our time there!
THIS IS THE VIEW FROM OUR CONDO – THE LAST NIGHT WE WERE THERE – I SURE WILL MISS THAT VIEW!
Rainbow River is one of our favorites places – we went twice this summer – THIS was the refreshing part of this hot, hot summer- the water temperature in the river is 73 degrees!!! It’s so cold that I tell people to remember to BREATHE when they jump in!
It’s a spring fed river so it is COLD and CRYSTAL CLEAR! We swim and snorkel and see fish, turtles and river otters – what a great place to go!
One of the highlights of the summer was our special visitors – ANDREW, LEIGH, NOLAN AND MILES!!! They came to visit and we had a blast with them! Boy do we love those grandkids!
It was a great summer, but I am ready to be home again – I LOVE PITTSBURGH! – I love my home – I miss my friends – and am ready for some cooler temperatures for sure!
On our way home, we decided to camp in Blue Ridge Georgia – in the mountains – what a beautiful area and it is cooler here for sure! We stayed at a wonderful KOA along a river, and just enjoyed the scenery around us!
Now we head to see family in Georgia, and then our last stop will be with friends in North Carolina, who have a beautiful cabin there – I think I have shown pics before, but just in case, here is their home in the mountains!
We feel so blessed to have family and friends along to see along our journeys, and have enjoyed every day of this action packed summer – from Florida, to Pittsburgh, to Indiana, Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Nevada, California, Arizona, Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, BACK TO FLORIDA, Georgia, North Carolina and then HOME! Whew – I’m pooped just writing it – for two old people, that’s a lot of traveling!
AND I THINK THAT THE SAYING FROM THE MOVIE IS TRUE – THERE TRULY IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME!
SEE YOU SOON PITTSBURGH!!!!!!!!!!!
I love all the pictures! What a great journey! Thanks for sharing it with us!!
All good things must come to an end. What an amazing trip. All of the country…the sights, the sounds, the people and the ability to see Nolan and Miles (and Leigh and Andrew..lol) at the end.
What an amazing “gift” traveling is.
“Everything good comes from God. Every perfect gift is from him. These good gifts come down from the Father who made all the lights in the sky. But God never changes like the shadows from those lights. He is always the same.”
James 1:17 ERV
