It’s hard to believe this is the last part of our adventure across the country– stopping in Branson, Missouri and then on to Alexandria, Indiana to see Emily !!
We spent two days in Branson, and enjoyed the campground and the time to rest for a bit – the two highlights of Branson were a NEAT coffee place we found (YES, I am a little addicted to coffee!) and the production of ‘Jesus’ at the Sight and Sound Theater!
. THE SIGN AT OUR CAMPGROUND IN BRANSON!
The coffee place was called 7 Brew Coffee and it was not only delicious, but UNIQUE!!! It’s only a drive through, and the employees are all standing outside as you pull up – there is fun music playing and all of the gals working there were so friendly and happy! The girl who took our order said that on Sundays, they play worship music! I think it’s probably a good thing I don’t live near 7 Brew Coffee, or there would be TWO places I would frequent for my “coffee fix” – there and Starbucks!
The next highlight – and definitely the best one – was the Sight and Sound Theater production ‘Jesus’ – WOW!!!! I have heard about these productions because here in Pennsylvania (Lancaster) we have a Sight and Sound Theater and I know lots of people who have gone to see shows there – I have always wanted to go and for some reason, never did. To say it was incredible is an understatement! I left there so amazed at the show – the theater itself – the acting – the singing – the sets for each “act” and most of all, the SPECIAL EFFECTS!! I have never experienced anything like it! And even better that it was all about Jesus! SO thankful that we did it! We both said we will now be making a trip to Lancaster to see another show!
After Branson, we headed to Indiana to see our awesome daughter, Emily and her boyfriend, Kramer! We stopped in Casey, Illinois for a night, and the campground was literally in the middle of a cornfield! It was great, and we met some really nice people!! We sat outside and enjoyed the cool, Midwest air!
We arrived at the campground in Indiana – a KOA in Muncie – and after getting set up, we headed over to see Emily at work! She just graduated in May from Purdue University with a doctorate in audiology – she is now working as an audiologist at a private practice and we couldn’t be more proud of her! AND, she was able to help Leonard because one of his hearing aids was broken – he got the “official” treatment as one of her patients and she gave him an updated hearing exam and fixed his hearing aids! Now he has NO excuse for not hearing what I say to him – haha!
. I LOVE THIS GIRL!
We enjoyed being with her and Kramer – We don’t get to see them a lot – and we hadn’t seen her since her graduation in May – boy, we miss her! She is doing great and finally, after EIGHT years of college, is out in the world doing what she loves! (AND she is good at it!).
I can’t believe this journey is over, and we are excited about being back home – but I have to admit, I will miss the trailer and the traveling and the new places we saw – The trailer is in the driveway for a few days until we put it in storage, and I told Leonard that if he wakes up and I am not in the bed at home, I’m sleeping out in the trailer in the driveway! It was our little oasis for five weeks and we loved it!
This will be my next to last post for this trip – I think the last one will be “things I learned pulling an Airstream across the country” !!!
I want to say a HUGE thank you for taking time to “follow along” with us and read these posts – it’s been so fun to try to document what we have done, and it means so much that you cared to read them! I am so thankful to each of you!!!
UNTIL THE LAST ONE….
So fun! The cornfield made me chuckle. 🌽 Welcome back to Brookside and the Burgh!
Welcome Home! Hi Emily…….glad to see you’re doing so well!
I’d like to read about what you learned along the way and I HAVE to go to the sight and sound theater!
Hope to see you soon!
Love ~ MK
So glad you and Leonard love your Airstream! I look forward to our “convoy!”
OH MY GOSH – I CAN”T WAIT FOR THAT DAY!
Such adventures!! Camping in a cornfield, how cool is that? I have never heard of these theaters but it sounds awesome! Emily is awesome and so I have no doubt that she is a fantastic audiologist! She loves what she does and when you ask her about stuff she is never condescending, just truly helpful! The neat thing about your trailer is that it will just be waiting for you to take your next adventure!!!
Thanks Laura!!!!
Camping in the Midwest – glad you liked it and can’t wait until you are in the northern part of the Midwest! I have really enjoyed following your travels, and so EXTREMELY thankful to have been a part of your journey! Until next time-
It was a great journey and getting to know YOU was one of the highlights!
Loved all of it. The coffee place, the play and all with Jesus…..camping in a corn field how cool! I am also so very proud of Emily. Nice when your kids go to college and you benefit from their work! I am sorry I was late following but so happy to be a traveler with you!
