Well, here we go!!!
Before we take our first cross country trip to see our son and daughter in law, we decided that we needed a “practice run” with our Airstream – a short trip not too far away so that we could try it out and make sure we know how to do some of the basics : hitch it up to the truck, pull it on the highways, back it into a camping space, UN-hitch it from the truck, hook it up to the water and power at the campground, and then, most of all, live in it for a few days!
We are in Tampa, Florida for the summer, so we decided to take the trailer over to Port Canaveral, Florida, near the Kennedy Space Center. It was an easy trip with no problems or issues, and the campground was great! It was right on the beach and also right next to the port where the cruise ships came in! As we checked in to the campground, we found out that there was going to be a rocket launch while we were there! WHAT A BONUS!
Thanks to Leonard and all his hours of research about our trailer and camping, we were able to successfully hook up the trailer in our campsite and enjoy all of the amenities Airstream includes in each trailer! Not only that, but we walked on the beach every day AND got to see the rocket launch from just a few miles away! What an incredible thing to witness!
Since the campground was at Port Canaveral, we watched some cruise ships depart from the port. As we watched from our trailer, on OUR first adventure, I thought about the people on board the cruise ships…about how excited they were, and where they were going as they set out on their OWN adventure!
So…now we are feeling more confident and ready to set off on our cross-country excursion – I’m excited to have the opportunity to share some of the things we will see and do on our way with all of you! Thank you for “joining us” as we go!
Oh, the places there are to see!
Susan and Leonard, that sounds like an EXCELLENT start to your new adventures! Congrats.
Sounds like you’re off to a good start Susan and Leonard! If you can, send (or post) that launch video.
Safe travels ~ Mary Kay
