Next stop, Arizona!
So much to see in the Grand Canyon state, beginning with….THE GRAND CANYON!
Last year we went to the Grand Canyon, and we loved it so much that we had to go back this year! The Campground where we stayed is the Grand Canyon Railway RV Park, and it’s an awesome campground! You can ride the Grand Canyon Railway train right to the Canyon, which we did last year!

We had so much fun “staging” this next photo to make it look like Bob was climbing out of the Grand Canyon!
Leonard got really good at holding the phone out over the canyon as we were riding on the bikes! It was hard to watch the road, stay on the bike, look at the canyon AND try to take photos and video! Haha (HOPE THE VIDEOS WORK!)
At the end of the day, the four of us agreed that the bike ride at the Grand Canyon was our favorite thing we had done on the trip! It was another YouTube video that made us choose to do it – boy are we glad we did!
After a fun day of biking at the Grand Canyon, we went back to the campground to relax, getting ready to head to Sedona, Arizona next! Last year we decided to check out Sedona and we LOVED it! We hiked partway up Bell Rock, but hadn’t taken enough water, so we wanted to try it again – This time we had PLENTY of water….BUT!….it was SO hot – we started the hike and within a few minutes we were already sweating! But we aren’t ones to back down from a challenge (haha) so we kept on going – up the trail, climbing on the rocks, trying to find some shade to stop and regroup for a second….it just kept getting HOTTER and HOTTER!
Finally, we all realized that it was just too hot to keep going up the trail – so we took some photos and looked out on the amazing view from the trail!!! If we were twenty years younger, we might have kept going!!!
THIS NEXT PHOTO WAS TAKEN WITH OUR DRONE – I THINK THAT’S ME DOWN THERE WALKING ON THE ROCKS!
It was a great attempt on our part and we had fun all being together! Maybe one day we will tackle BELL ROCK and make it to the top!

On to Amarillo, Texas, Albuquerque, New Mexico and Checotah, Oklahoma! These will be our first three stops as we make our way back east! The ONE thing they will all have in common – it will be HOT!!!!!!!! A few weeks ago we had snow and now it will be 100 degrees!
UNTIL NEXT TIME….
Hot-yes! But wasn’t it a “different kind of heat?” VERY dry???
Beautiful pictures of a beyond memorable trip! Good to see y’all enjoying yourselves!
It was dry heat but still HOT! haha
Love the ebike idea!! Leonard sure is brave to try and get pictures/ video while riding a bike on that trail!!! When Leonard is retired, you 2 could be tour guides. And I’m serious!
I tried to do the videoing while riding but was UNSUCCESSFUL! He did MUCH better as you can see!
So much fun to see all of your wonderful pictures!! We also rented E-bikes when we were in Michigan and LOVED them! So much easier when riding long distances.. What an adventure you all had!
The e-bikes were the best!
Love the ebike rental plan! But, I thought you guys got way too close to the edge of the Canyon when posing for pictures!! We love Arizona but it’s SO HOT!
Looking forward to the next stop!
MK
The rental bikes were a blast! and I do NOT like being that close to the edge – i am smiling for the picture but NOT enjoying it!
Stunning! Striking!
it sure was!
You’re so adventurous! Love that you tried the ebikes and persevered in the heat as far as you did. That staged picture was WAY too scary for me : )
that STAGED picture was too scary for me too!
These photos brought back such fond memories of the grand canyon and Sedona. Hiking down into the canyon is one of my all-time favorite experiences. Whoever posted that you guys could be tour guides is spot on, especially considering you know all the good places to eat as well as the outdoor activities. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Chris – the Grand Canyon is certainly amazing isn’t it!!! I’d love to do a hike down into the Canyon – maybe next time! haha
Love the aerial photos of the Grand Canyon, love the videos on the bikes, love the drone shot, love Susan in shorts! Susan you look like a teenager!
Glad you are all having a safe and relaxing trip. God sure has made our world pretty! Drive safe and hope to see you (safe and sound) soon.
Miss you!
Joan, you are funny!!! I appreciate your sweet comments!
Looks so fun. Do you remember being there as a kid? I think there were less safety features then…probably blessed I didn’t take the plunge…lol.
Cheating with “e” bikes…just kidding. Thats the only way I could make that distance.
I don’t really remember being there as kids – and how funny that we “cheated” with the e-bike! We HAD to at this age – haha
