WOW – time is flying since we arrived in California! We got here and jumped right in to being grandparents to a 3 1/2 year old and an eight month old!!!! As we pulled down Andrew’s street, and got closer to the house, we could see everyone sitting outside in the front yard waiting for us! Nolan had the biggest smile on his face and was waving as fast as he could! WHAT A SIGHT FOR SORE AND TIRED EYES!
We have had such a great time being with Andrew, Leigh, Nolan and Miles – just enjoying their home, their pool, and THEM! Oh, and one more thing….every night Andrew cooks dinner for all of us and may I just say – HE IS AN AMAZING COOK! We are enjoying every single meal – how I wish I had taken photos of each one (like everyone does on Instagram – haha), but I did manage to get one of last night’s dinner – DELISH!
This was an Asian beef ramen noodle bowl – and it was amazing!
Some of the dinners he made: chicken ginger stir fry….homemade pizza (dough and all!) ….bon mi sandwiches with pork belly he made on the smoker!….smoked chicken wings….chicken wraps with homemade slaw and sauce….ALL SO GOOD! – THANK YOU ANDREW!
Oh the fun we have had with Nolan and Miles – Nolan is such and fun and FUNNY kid – he keeps us on our toes! And Miles…my nickname is “smiles-y Miles-y” – if that tells you anything- as soon as you say hi to him he smiles so big!
OH….AND MOM AND DAD ARE FUN TOO!
One of Nolan’s favorite things to do is help Andrew with yard work – so I captured some of his happiness last weekend and hope it makes you smile!
DISCLAIMER: NOLAN IS NOT MOWING WITH THE REAL LAWN MOWER – JUST A PHOTO POSE!
And this was the best day for Miles – taking a bottle while “chillin'” in the pool!
We feel so blessed to spend this time with Andrew and Leigh and Nolan and Miles – just a few more photos of the time so far…
Before I sign off (you’re probably wondering if I’m ever going to quit typing!), I want to show you our campground! Last year we stayed at a campground along the Kings River – we made reservations again for this year and, in March, they called us to tell us the unfortunate news that their ENTIRE campground had flooded – there has been record snowfall and rainfall out here this year, so the Kings River has overflowed and flooded all of the campgrounds that are on it!!! Andrew helped us find a different campground and we are so happy! It is called Lemon Cove RV Park and it is about 10 miles from the entrance to Sequoia National Park!!! The scenery our here is amazing and the drive to get here each evening is so pretty! Along the way, we pass every kind of fruit tree, grape vines, olive trees, etc and the mountains are in the background!
We tried to go back to Sequoia National Park to see the trees we saw last year, but much of the road leading up to the giant trees is closed! So much rain has caused damage to the roads – but we could go part way – we found a trail to walk to a bridge over a waterfall, and it was SPECTACULAR! Here’s a little of what we are experiencing!
we DID walk across the bridge – YIKES!
THANK YOU for reading all of this – we’ve done so much in the time we are here, and just wanted to share it with you – it means so much that you take the time to go on this journey with us – NEXT STOP – THE GRAND CANYON!!!
P.S. one more VIDEO for your viewing – hope it works and makes you smile!
LOVE the pictures! LOVE, LOVE, LOVES the pictures of the family! Before you know it, Nolan & Miles will be doing zip lines on their own! The expressions on Miles’ face…You can tell what he’s feeling & that he’s thinking about everything, every experience! Nolan is already an awesome helper! He will be pushing that lawnmower…sooner than later! What a sweet family! Andrew & Leigh are obviously great parents! SO happy you get to spend this time with them!!! Thanks for sharing!
