This trip we went on, from Tampa, Florida all the way to Montana and back, was absolutely amazing! It was extra special having friends join us with their Airstream – what a great time we had together!
At our last campground as a group of four, we had dinner and talked about all the great places we saw and the fun – and CHALLENGING – things we did! We also loved looking back over the weeks to see how the Lord protected us, watched over us, provided for us, and just blessed us all the time! HE IS AWESOME!

We said “goodbye for now” after spending the night in Tuscaloosa, Alabama – they were heading back to Florida and we were heading to VIRGINIA BEACH!!!!!!!
Andrew, Leigh and the kids have moved back to Virginia Beach – we are so thrilled to have them much closer than California! Since we hadn’t seen them since Christmas, we headed there before coming back to Florida! We couldn’t get there fast enough!
We stayed at the Virginia Beach KOA campground which was AMAZING! And it’s just a few minutes from the Naval Base! In fact, when we made the reservation, the lady told Leonard “we just need to let you know that we are very near to the naval base, and the jets are loud when they fly” – Leonard had the BEST response…
“Oh, that’s no problem…our son FLIES one of those jets and we LOVE that noise!’
We have a sticker on our truck that says: JET NOISE – THE SOUND OF FREEDOM! (enjoy the video!)
This KOA campground is one of the best we have stayed in! There are SO many things to do – for every age! A big swimming pool with a lazy river, a huge store, big laundry room, live music at night, outdoor games of ALL kinds, bikes and go carts to rent, food trucks, and more! We WILL be staying there again!

The first full day we were there, Nolan wanted to come and see the trailer – so while Miles took a nap, we took Nolan to get Chick Fil A for lunch and then went an hung out at the trailer – he helped Pap do some things around the trailer, we gave him the “tour” of everything, and then we had lunch and watched Bluey and just talked to him. He loves to talk and has so many wonderful things to say – it is the JOY of our lives!
. NOLAN PUT HIS LITTLE SHOES NEXT TO OURS IN OUR SHOE HOLDER !!!
It was such a fun day and I think Nolan enjoyed it so much – this next photo shows just how FULL the day was!
That night as Leigh was putting Nolan to bed, he asked if he could go with us to the trailer the next day also – she said “I’m sure you can – in fact, we will probably all go over” – Nolan’s response: “I just want to go by myself with Gaga and Pap” – Leigh told him that that was great, but she had not seen the trailer and that Andrew and she would love to come to the campground too”.
Nolan, quick on his feet with a response, said: “mom, here, let me describe the whole trailer to you” – haha – he did NOT want them all to come – so he thought describing it to her would be sufficient!
They ALL came to the campground after nap time, and we spent the whole evening listening to the live music, playing games, getting snacks from the food trucks, and just enjoyed being outside, and being together!
We even got to go to their school and meet their new teachers!!! WHAT A JOY!
I can’t tell you how thrilled we are that they are now SEVEN hours away by car, instead of TWO FLIGHTS away in California – and Emily is only FIVE hours away by car – so thrilled!
After a fun visit, it was time to head back to Florida – we have sure LOVED this trip and being in our trailer – we are DEFINITELY camping people!! It’s so much fun to see new places, experience new things and meet new people! There are lots of people who are “FULL TIMERS” with this camping thing – we have decided that it’s not for us, but we are going to be “MOST OF THE TIMERS” and take lots more trips!
Thank you so so much for coming along on these adventures with us this summer!
I am probably going to write one more time and show some of the things we do down here in Florida – it’s a whole different thing from going out west and hiking in the “hoodoos” and riding e-bikes at the Grand Canyon, etc…but it’s fun and entertaining all the same!
Here’s a hint…
UNTIL NEXT TIME….
Amazing pix. So happy you are now within easy reach of Andrew and family. How old are Nolan and Miles now?

So glad you had an amazing trip – love all the photos!!! But my very fave thing is seeing you guys with Nolan and hearing about his tour of the trailer – those shoes! xoxo
I cracked up when he told Leigh “here, let me describe the trailer” so she wouldn’t come! haha – I also LOVED his little shoes that he put in there – we didn’t even tell him to!
Love the updates!
THANK YOU!
Thank you for taking us along. I loved all of your photos, and the ending with your grandchildren touched my heart. So sweet!!
They are truly the BEST part of any trip right!?
Every picture is a postcard! Beautiful! And I am so happy that you are so much closer to Nolan and Miles!(and their parents 😃) Remind me to tell you a story about my granddaughter Loie and Bluey. Being a grandparent is the best!
We LOVE Bluey! can’t wait to hear!
I love your posts. What a privilege to not only see our beautiful country but to experience it!! I live vicariously through your posts and pictures. I especially loved the way God showed up in divine and wonderful ways. Being able to see them cast in your tv and hear the stories first hand was a treat.
